Permitted development rights for renewable technologies have lifted the requirements for planning permission, in England and Scotland, for most domestic microgeneration technologies.
However, we strongly advise that anyone thinking of installing renewable technology contact their planning office and building regulations officers to notify them of their installation and confirm they are covered under permitted development. You may be charged so it is worth checking.
Our installations are covered under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited service levels and certified through the NAPIT competent persons scheme.
Listed buildings, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and conservation areas may require planning permission because of issues with visual impact and noise levels. We have a lot of positive experience in this area that can help your project run smoothly.
We can supply architects and main contractors with technical information on renewable energy technologies to assist with meeting planning and building regulations on new build and retrofit projects.
For example, planners will be concerned with the visual impact and noise levels created by some renewables. We can provide advice and technical data on this.
We can also provide advice in the early stages of a project designed to save time later on in its life span. For example, we recommend that within designs you include solar panels on every south facing roof, even if they are not required immediately.
Contact us for further information on how we can assist with meeting planning and building regulations for your renewable technology.
